Schooling and childcare in Seville

The window

Andalusia runs one ordinary admissions window, from 1 to 31 March inclusive, for entry the following September. It covers every public and concertado school and every stage from the second cycle of Educación Infantil through Primaria, Educación Especial, ESO and Bachillerato, and applications are filed through the Secretaría Virtual de los Centros Educativos. There is no second ordinary round, so missing March does not mean choosing later, it means being allocated. The free information line is 900 848 000, open 08:00 to 19:00.

• The 2026/27 round ran to this pattern: scored applicant lists published 17 to 20 April, a ten-school-day trámite de audiencia opening on 21 April, the public tie-break lottery on 13 May, and the final admitted and rejected lists on 14 May.
• The 2027/28 calendar has not been published. The March window is the fixed part; treat the April and May dates as the shape rather than as diary entries.
• Proof of address comes from the padrón, so empadronarse before you apply.

Arriving out of window

An application filed after the window closes, or mid-year, goes to the comisión territorial de garantías de admisión at the Delegación Territorial de Educación, which allocates a place by the date the application was submitted. You lose every priority point you would otherwise have scored, so proximity, siblings and income stop counting. The administration may authorise up to a 10% increase over the maximum class size to absorb immediate needs, but it is not obliged to. The practical result is a place where there is room, which may be nowhere near the flat you have just signed for.

Bilingual state schools

Free bilingual state schooling is a real option here rather than a token one. Under the Plan de Fomento del Plurilingüismo, launched in 2005 with the first 101 English bilingual centres from 2006/07, a designated centro bilingüe teaches áreas no lingüísticas, meaning non-language subjects, through the foreign language for at least half of that subject's timetable, using the CLIL method. English dominates the network, with smaller French and German strands, and some centres now run a third language. New centres are authorised annually, most recently for 2026/27 by the Orden de 16 de febrero de 2026, and no reliable running total is published, so check the Junta's list for the districts you are considering. Admission goes through the same March process as any other state school.

The international sector

Seville has nine international schools, a small sector next to Madrid's, spanning British, IB, American, French, German and Montessori curricula and teaching mostly in English and Spanish. Five of them, CBS, the Deutsche Schule, the Lycée Français, Highlands and the Colegio Internacional de Sevilla, publish no fees at all, so ask each one directly and early. Yago School, which also takes boarders, publishes 2026/27 day tuition from €363 a month in the youngest nursery year to €922 in the second year of the IB Diploma, with compulsory senior dining at €203 a month and a non-refundable enrolment fee of €830 for nursery or €1,660 for the senior school; boarding runs €33,760 to €40,300 a year and carries a refundable €2,080 deposit. It bills in ten monthly or three termly instalments, so ask every school how it splits the year before you compare annual figures.

• St. Angela International School, British and covering ages two to eighteen, is listed at €5,240 to €11,220 a year. The comparison sites do not date that range, so confirm the current year with the school.
• The Montessori schools are the cheaper end: Sevilla Montessori School at €3,930 to €6,500 and EducoMontessori at €4,565 to €5,115, both likewise undated.
