Moving to Warsaw
Warsaw is bigger, newer and more corporate than Kraków, with the jobs and the rents to match. The building-charge issue is identical — the czynsz is quoted separately and materially changes what a flat costs. The upside is a large supply of modern apartments and a metro that actually reaches where people live.

What catches people out
The Warsaw traps
Every market has its own way of costing newcomers money. These are the ones worth knowing before you start.
Rent plus czynsz plus electricity
Compare the total, never the headline. The gap between two listings can be a thousand złoty once charges are included.
Deposit fraud on classifieds
Same pattern as everywhere: an absent owner, an attractive price, and money requested before anyone has seen the flat.
Fixed-term leases
Early termination is often restricted or expensive. If your plans are uncertain, negotiate the exit clause rather than the rent.
After the keys
The admin that follows a move
On Premium, your Insidoor does this with you rather than sending you a checklist. Timing in Warsaw: Three to four weeks.
PESEL number
Needed for healthcare, tax and most services. Apply at the city office once you have an address.
Meldunek
Address registration, which simplifies everything that follows.
Bank account
Fast to open and excellent to use. Passport plus proof of address.
Utilities
Electricity contracted by you; heating and water usually run through the building administration.
Language. Polish for leases and offices. English is widespread in the business districts. Your Insidoor works with you in English and negotiates on your behalf in whatever the lease is written in.
