Moving to Kraków
Kraków is compact, historic and one of the better-value cities in the European Union for what you get. The local detail that catches everyone is the czynsz — a monthly administrative charge paid to the building's cooperative for heating, water, refuse and maintenance. It is quoted separately from rent and can add several hundred złoty, which changes the comparison between two apparently similar flats.

Where to live
Neighbourhoods in Kraków
Your Insidoor walks these before they shortlist anything, and will tell you which one actually fits how you live.

What it costs to rent

Indicative only, last checked . Rents move; your Insidoor confirms what the market is actually doing before you commit to anything.
What catches people out
The Kraków traps
Every market has its own way of costing newcomers money. These are the ones worth knowing before you start.
The czynsz nobody mentioned
Two flats advertised at the same rent can differ by zł 400 a month once building charges are counted. Always ask for rent plus czynsz plus expected electricity.
Classified-site deposit fraud
The usual pattern on OLX and Facebook groups: an owner abroad, a low price, and a transfer requested to hold it.
Short notice periods
Polish leases are often for a fixed term with limited early exit. Read the termination clause before you assume you can leave.
After the keys
The admin that follows a move
On Premium, your Insidoor does this with you rather than sending you a checklist. Timing in Kraków: Three to four weeks. September is tight because of the universities.
PESEL number
The national identification number, needed for healthcare, tax and most online services. Apply at the city office.
Meldunek
Address registration. Some landlords are reluctant; it is your right where you genuinely live there, and it makes later paperwork simpler.
Bank account
Polish banking is excellent and fast. A passport and proof of address are usually enough.
Utilities
Electricity is usually yours to contract; heating and water typically come through the building and are inside the czynsz.
Language. Polish for leases and offices. English is common among younger people and in the centre. Your Insidoor works with you in English and negotiates on your behalf in whatever the lease is written in.
Pricing for Kraków
